Recurved springs are designed to move an individual tooth in a labial or buccal direction, similar to Invisalign*. However, by altering the length and direction of the open end, it can also be used to help rotate the tooth. These springs can be made with or without helical coils. Note - To prevent the activated spring from riding up the cingulum, a composite ledge is commonly placed on the lingual aspect of the tooth.
Springs are ideal for single or multiple tooth rotations in the anterior segment – and cross bites.
