Micro-screws are used for individual tooth movement in a direct labial or buccal direction. When placed ideally they can also be used to rotate a tooth, however this movement is more easily accomplished with a recurved spring. Just a simple 180Þ turn of the screw with a screwdriver is all that is needed to activate the spring plunger mechanism. Many practitioners like this screw because it is easy to adjust. However, care must be taken not to over tighten the screw as it will cause the mechanism to lock up.
