Often an adult requiring an interim partial will find it difficult to wear a full palatal coverage appliance. Speech is adversely affected and they have a great deal of difficulty adapting. Although time is often all that is needed to adapt fully, many patients’ employment requirements do not afford them the luxury of time. In this situation, the horseshoe design indicated here will usually solve the problem. Kevlar fiber is added to the acrylic to improve its strength and make up for the minimal amount of acrylic. The use of “C” clasps on the distal-most molars and rests on the first bicuspids offers good stability and retention.
