Flat Hawley Arch Wire
C1014

A Flat Hawley Arch Wire is often used in final retainers. It is chosen over a round wire because its flat surface provides more contact with the labial surface of the anterior teeth. The flat part of this wire is then soldered to the adjustment loops at the cuspids.

Added retention to stabilize the cuspids after tooth movement can also be accomplished by contouring the flat wire back to the distal of the cuspids. (See “Contoured-Flat Hawley”)
